"Today is a good day to die" - A Native American Indian greeting.
1800 miles by air, 900 miles by road and 40 miles by foot into the heart of Navajo Nation was simply a spectacular experience. Over 4 days, I had the opportunity to hike and photograph Antelope Canyon (over millions of years, running water has carved deep 'slots' into sandstone; sunlight filtering through the roof of the 'slots' create a brilliant display of color, light and shadow), Glen Canyon National Park, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend (a captivating meander in the Colorado river which can be viewed from a steep cliff, high above the river bend), Monument Valley (isolated red mesas and buttes surrounded by empty, sandy desert on the Colorado plateau), Painted Desert (multi-hued badlands of the Chinle formation rocks) and Meteor Crater (a 50,000 year-old meteorite impact site).
I do hope these pictures encourage you to follow my footsteps!
